How Many Kids Did Tom Smothers Have?

Thomas Bolyn Smothers III, famously known as Tom Smothers, sadly passed away on Dec. 26, 2023. His brother, Dick Smothers, released a statement noting that Tom died at his home in Santa Rosa after enduring a long battle with cancer (via The Hollywood Reporter).

The younger of the comedic duo, the Smothers Brothers, said, “Tom was not only the loving older brother that everyone would want in their life, he was a one-of-a-kind creative partner…Our relationship was like a good marriage — the longer we were together, the more we loved and respected one another.”

Tom Smothers was the creative lead of “The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour,” which one can say was the start of satirical TV shows. The elder of the iconic duo has often recounted the days when he had to stand firm against CBS executives. His scripts often contained social satire at a time when it was still shunned in prime time (via Reuters).

With the news of his passing, his fans are naturally curious about his family life. Smothers is survived by his wife, Marcy Carriker Smothers, and their two kids, Bo Smothers and Riley Rose Smothers. He also had a son from his first marriage, Thomas Bolyn Smothers IV (Tom Jr.). Sadly, he passed away earlier this year in April (via People).

Tom Smothers had three kids

Smothers and his wife shared two kids: Bo Smothers and Riley Rose Smothers. Bo was born in 1993 and is currently 30 years old. Riley was born three years later, in 1996, and is 27 years old.

Smothers’ firstborn, Thomas Bolyn Smothers IV, was 57 years old when he passed away on April 18, 2023. The comedian shared him with his first wife, Stephanie Shorr.

The family will be holding a private memorial service in the upcoming year. It will be an intimate affair with only his family and friends. As for his fans who might want to make a memorial donation, Dick Smothers and his wife have requested for the same to be made to the National Comedy Center.
