Former quarterback Jim Harbaugh has accepted the head coach role for the Los Angeles Chargers and is headed back to the National Football League (NFL). The American football team has drafted a five-year deal with Harbaugh, who previously led the University of Michigan (via NFL).
Reportedly, Jim Harbaugh also received an offer from the University of Michigan. Accepting the deal would have made him the highest-paid coach in college football. However, he went ahead with the decision to lead the NFL team. Dean Spanos exclaimed that the coach was “football personified,” and the Chargers owner could think of no one better to lead his team.
Jim Harbaugh spent nine years with the University of Michigan. He led them to their first national championship since 1997 earlier this month. Prior to that, he was the head coach of San Francisco. Harbaugh also has winning records at the University of San Diego and Stanford (via Guardian).
Los Angeles Chargers have been on the lookout for a coach and general manager since Brandon Staley and Tom Telesco were fired in December 2023. Spanos noted that one couldn’t “build a resume like Jim’s by accident,” and how his previous teams “swear by him” speaks for itself.
Fans are curious to see Jim Harbaugh work his magic as the Los Angeles Chargers head coach. With the former American football player making headlines, many are also interested in his family. Harbaugh was married to Miah Harbaugh from 1996 to 2006. However, he is currently wedded to Sarah Feuerborn Harbaugh, with the couple having tied the knot in 2008.
