Illumination and Universal Pictures recently dropped the trailer for “Despicable Me 4,” which is set for a July 3, 2024, release. The fourth installment of the top-rated animated franchise comes seven years after the third. It features the beloved supervillain turned anti-villain, who is now married to Lucy and has an adorable baby boy (via Vulture).
“Despicable Me 4” follows the second spin-off of the famous franchise, “Minions: The Rise of Gru.” In the trailer for the fourth installment, fans get a peek into the family man’s wholesome life. They are also introduced to the new addition to his household, Gru Jr., who is set on giving his dad a hard time.
The first movie saw the supervillain adopting three daughters, and the second film had Gru finding love in Lucy Wilde. Following that, the third movie introduces his long-lost twin, Dru. “Despicable Me 4” will follow Gru’s expanding family, who are on the run as his “family’s lives are at stake.”
“Despicable Me 3” was a massive success, overtaking the “Shrek” series as the highest-grossing animated movie franchise. Moreover, it crossed the $1 billion milestone worldwide (via Variety). It is safe to say the franchise was a box-office success.
Who are a part of the Despicable Me 4 cast list?
“Despicable Me 4” will drop in theaters this summer. Several from the original voice cast are making a comeback. However, the fourth installment also introduces new characters, further expanding the cast list.
