TikTok viral mom Catherine Ipsan, better known by her professional name, Cat Janice, has passed away. The singer-songwriter of “Dance You Outta My Head” died on Feb. 28, 2024, at only 31 years of age (via Billboard).

Cat Janice’s brother took to Instagram to announce her unfortunate demise. He stated, “This morning, from her childhood home and surrounded by her loving family, Catherine peacefully entered the light and love of her heavenly creator.” He expressed his thanks for all the love from her fans, exclaiming, “This would not have been possible without all of you.”

The TikTok phenomenon “Dance You Outta My Head” peaked when she teased the song in a video in January. In the same TikTok video, she also shared that after a very long fight with cancer, unfortunately, it had won. Cat Janice asked her fans to pre-save the song as it will be her last one, noting that all the proceeds will go to her 7-year-old son (via NBC News).

“Dance You Outta My Head” grabbed the first position on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 and entered the top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs. Moreover, it has been streamed more than 12.8 million times worldwide on Spotify. Acknowledging this, Cat Janice’s brother noted, “Cat saw her music go places she never expected and rests in the peace of knowing that she will continue to provide for her son through her music.”

What type of cancer did Cat Janice have?

Cat Janice was diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare kind of cancer. The singer-songwriter’s cancer journey began in November 2021. It started as a lump in her neck that she didn’t pay heed to, but then she realized that it was still there after several months. In a video on TikTok, she exclaimed, “It was larger and it was very hard” (via People).

After seeking professional help, she was diagnosed with cancer. The diagnosis was followed up with chemo, radiation, and surgery. Cat Janice was finally declared cancer-free on July 22, 2022. However, in January 2024, cancer reared its ugly head again. The TikTok viral mom entered hospice when she wasn’t able to breathe in the ICU.
