Halsey Recalls T-Cell Lymphoproliferative Disorder Diagnosis as New Mother

Halsey recently revealed finding out about their T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder diagnosis in an interview with Paper Magazine. The pop star confessed to discovering it on their 28th birthday as a new mother to son Ender Ridley Aydin. The singer further expressed how the medical diagnosis affected their career and creative process, stating that they had “nothing to write about.”

Halsey reveals getting the medical diagnosis while having a ‘little baby’

In their interview with Paper Magazine, Halsey recalled getting the T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder diagnosis when they were a new mother. The singer said, “I had a tiny little baby and I was on my tour, and it was my 28th birthday when I got the confirmation of my T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder diagnosis.” They also expressed that the discovery of the diagnosis affected their creative process as the pop singer struggled to write.

Halsey said, “I had to just stop, because before this record, I remember being at home like, I have my perfect little family with my baby and my partner. What am I going to write about? I have nothing to write about.” The singer then expressed how the universe intervened to help them with the upcoming album, “The Great Impersonator.”

Halsey further dealt with existential questions during the making of the album. Furthermore, the doctor’s advice to the singer about how their career as an artist might be detrimental to the healing process left them feeling “unfair.” This probed them to “playing out these alternate realities.” They continued, “If I spawned in any other decade, or any other parallel universe, does it always go this way? Do I always end up Halsey? If I end up Halsey, do I always end up sick?”

Halsey further described their healing process through the music video for the song “Lucky” and the change in their writing process. Previously, in June, the singer opened up about Lupus and T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder diagnosis through an Instagram post, stating how they are “currently being managed or in remission.”

Meanwhile, Halsey’s fifth studio album, “The Great Impersonator,” drops on October 25.
