Nicole Kidman leaves Venice Film Festival abruptly after mother’s death

As mentioned earlier, after learning about the sudden death of her loving mother, actress Nicole Kidman left the 81st Venice International Film Festival. She could not be present at the award ceremony of the festival to receive the Best Actress award. On her behalf, the Dutch director of the film, Halina Reijn, accepted the award.

At the award ceremony, the director read out an emotional message from Kidman, expressing her deep sorrow. In the message, the actress called her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, “brave and beautiful.” As per The Guardian, she said, “I’m in shock, and I have to go to my family.” She then went on to dedicate the award to her mother, who had shaped and guided her and made her who she is. Nicole Kidman further wrote, “The collision of life and art is heartbreaking.” She continued, “And my heart is broken.”

In a previous 2020 interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, the actress talked about her mother. She said, “She’s given me the fire to pursue the career I have because I’ve always wanted to please her.” Thus, it is quite evident that her mother had a massive influence on Kidman’s life and career.
