Rebel Wilson has opened up about balancing her work as a new mom. In November 2022, the “Pitch Perfect” star welcomed her daughter, Royce Lillian Elizabeth Wilson, via surrogate. Shortly after welcoming the baby girl, Wilson got engaged to her partner, Ramona Agruma, in February 2023. The Australian actress is now making her directorial debut with the musical film “The Deb.” Wilson recently got candid about the challenges of being a working parent and managing her roles as a new mom and a first-time director.
Rebel Wilson on being a new mom and directorial debut: ‘It was hard’
In an interview with People Magazine, Rebel Wilson shared that it was “very challenging” to be a new mom and doing a job that she had “never ever done before” but she said she will “recover from that.” The 44-year-old actress continued, “Royce was almost turning one,” and further revealed that she wasn’t “getting very much sleep.” Wilson said “it was hard” as she “moved the family back to Australia for it.” However, the “The Hustle” star is getting “a bit more sleep now” since the movie is complete.
Rebel Wilson also shared during the interview that her daughter came to the set of the new film “several times” and has “probably seen the movie a couple of times.” The actress continued to gush about her 22-month-old daughter, who seems to have already caught the fancy of films. Wilson shared that Royce sometimes “comes in” when she is watching stuff on her “home cinema.” The mother-of-one added, “She comes in because she hears the music. She does this little baby dancing.”
Wilson’s daughter, Royce, recently made her red carpet debut at the premiere of “The Deb” during the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. The director’s fiancée, Ramona Agruma, also joined them at the star-studded event.
