On September 17, Halle Berry participated in a roundtable event for her new movie, “Never Let Go.” Discussing the topic of motherhood, the 58-year-old got candid about her role as a mom and how it impacted the portrayal of her character in the upcoming film. Berry utilized her real-life experiences to play the role of an overprotective mother in “Never Let Go.”
Halle Berry says she’s protective of her kids
While talking about her new role, the “Catwoman” star said that she is a “mama bear” in real life as well. However, Halle Berry went on to clarify that she allows her children the space to grow as individuals. According to People, the actress understands she is the “vessel” to bring her little ones here and doesn’t expect them to become her “clones.”
She revealed that her duties as a mom include “to just hold space for them and nurture them, feed them, take care of them, provide them different opportunities.” However, Halle Berry’s children can “decide for themselves” and make life decisions of their choice.
Moreover, playing the role of a mother in “Never Let Go” further affirmed what she knew about herself and her parenting style. While she leaves room for her kids to have some freedom, she is still “pretty protective” and will “fight for them.” Until they grow up, if at any point they need her help, Berry’s little ones can surely count on her.
Halle Berry aptly summarized her parenting by stating, “I just want them to be them…Anything they do will make me proud as long as they do it.” Many parents will relate to Berry’s sentiments as well since they may be highly protective of their little ones, but they surely want the kids to have personalities of their own. Their unique perspective is what parents love the most about their children, so it is common for moms and dads to leave some room for their children to explore and develop their personalities.
