On September 23, Kristen Bell opened up about how she keeps her and Dax Shepard’s kids away from smartphones. She also revealed that her daughters don’t have phones. They can still text using their iPods and listen to music when they want, but cell phones are a no-no for her children.

Kristen Bell reveals a trick she and Dax Shepard use to keep kids away from phones

On Monday, Kristen Bell made a guest appearance on “The View,” where she discussed her upcoming series, “Nobody Wants This.” The actress also talked about her family, as she recounted how she met her husband Dax Shepard, and how they control their kids’ social media consumption. It all started with the actors introducing the phone as “a trick” to their children.

Bell revealed that her children “do not have phones” and the way they achieved it was by introducing the device as a “trick” to their little ones. Whenever Bell or Shepard have to use their cellphones in front of the kids, they tell them, “You know, this phone, it has all these tricks inside that make me want to come back to it.”

The parents found it an interesting way to initiate conversation about gadgets and it also built a suspicion among the little ones. This helped with the kids asking Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard for phones. It even helped the family further look into the technology before deciding to give the children smartphones that give them easy access to social media.

The couple have another parenting hack up their sleeve that had Jimmy Kimmel questioning if “that was okay.” Bell revealed that on a trip to Denmark, they allowed their daughters to roam around freely around an amusement park attached to their hotel. They woke up early, scanned their bracelets, and enjoyed themselves for seven hours before coming back to their room. Bell and Shepard had the time of their lives as well, as they leisurely drank their coffee and played Spades.
