Andrew Garfield Admits He Doesn’t Want To Be a ‘Tired Dad’

Andrew Garfield, who turned 41 in August, says he doesn’t want to be a “tired dad” while discussing his character, a father, in his new movie, “We Live in Time.” Garfield recently spoke to Esquire about his latest romantic comedy, his opinions on parenting, and whether he wants to be a father someday. Garfield said that he is “already a tired guy,” which is why he does not wish to be “a tired dad” The actor also talked about the complications of being a celebrity parent.

Andrew Garfield doesn’t “want to be a tired dad” and weighs on his decision of not wanting to father kids. He explains the “heavy burden” he can possibly face because of his career path if he ever decides to bring “new life into the context of my life.” As an actor and widely recognized celebrity, Garfield believes his personal life is often out in the open under constant scrutiny from the people, the press, and tabloids.

Andrew Garfield also opened up about fatherhood and his desire to steer away from the “societal obligation” to have kids. The “Amazing Spider-Man” actor told GQ in November 2022 that he has released himself from “the societal obligation of procreating by the time I’m 40.” He further explained that his decision is “more about accepting a different path than what was kind of expected of me from birth.”

Answering a question of whether he would want kids when in his 70s, Andrew Garfield said he would “rather not.” The Oscar-nominated actor had then discussed the “perpetual practice of letting s**t go.” He emphasized the concept of relinquishing a certain idea while asserting that he would have “loved my mum to have met my kids” if he ever decided to have kids. The interview took place not long after his mother died of pancreatic cancer in 2019.
