Erin Foster Hesitated to Hire Baby Nurse but She Was a ‘Godsend’

Erin Foster, creator of Netflix’s “Nobody Wants This,” admitted that she was hesitant to hire a baby nurse initially. Foster, who welcomed her first daughter with husband Simon Tikhman in May, described her “overwhelming” experience as a new mom in an episode of the “LadyGang” podcast. Later, she explained how hiring a baby nurse during the first few months “felt like a godsend to have someone there that made you feel like baby’s not gonna die.”

Among other subjects, Erin Foster discussed parenting her daughter while juggling life as a writer and podcaster.

Erin Foster revealed she learned a lot from her baby’s nurse

Erin Foster detailed her struggles while parenting her newborn daughter. She also elaborated on the things she learned from her baby nurse, Joy. After eight years, the writer and creator returned to the “LadyGang” podcast to discuss her new Netflix series, “Nobody Wants This.” The conversation was occasionally directed toward her personal life, given that it is loosely based on her experiences.

In the podcast episode, Erin Foster told the hosts that she initially “wondered If I shouldn’t get a baby nurse at all.” She claimed her plan was to keep it “all natural,” especially because she “did a home birth” and wanted to pursue “things in a different way.” Foster claimed she learned a lot with the aid of the baby nurse. This included getting answers to questions and being supported during “overwhelming” moments.

Parenting her infant daughter with the baby nurse was a great deal of “help” for Erin Foster. At first, she guessed, “It’s maybe it’s different for everyone, but for me, what happened when I got help, was that you learn a lot from this person.” Foster claimed there is no “maternal instinct that kicks” when a new mother has to breastfeed or pump or “when they should wake up” or if the baby has gas.” The mother-of-one emphasized that the nurse made her feel like she was “not doing a terrible job.”

Erin Foster called her baby nurse “phenomenal” for helping her as a new mom which she described as “the job of 10 people.” The podcaster said Joy seemingly had “all the answers and took them all with her” when she left. The baby nurse kept all her tricks a secret from Foster, who revealed that she and her husband have hired a nanny for their baby girl.
