Nick Cannon on Being a Teenage Girl Dad: ‘It’s Scary’

Nick Cannon has recently opened up about his experiences of parenting a teenage daughter. On October 15, the television host and comedian, who is a father of twelve children, appeared on “The Talk” as a guest. He discussed how “scary” it is to raise a teenage girl, referring to his 13-year-old daughter Monroe. As reported by PEOPLE, Nick Cannon also talked about how his daughter Monroe adores makeup, so much so that Sephora is Monroe’s favorite place to hang out with friends.

While on “The Talk,” Nick Cannon candidly opened up about parenting his and ex-wife Mariah Carey’s twins — son Moroccan and daughter Monroe. He admitted that it is difficult to raise teenagers. Although he can manage his son, when it comes to Monroe, he finds himself in tricky situations.

Cannon revealed that he finds it easier to “handle” his son since “he is so much like me.” However, it is not the same when it comes to his daughter. He said, “She’s like, wearing make-up and taking two hours in the bathroom. Like what are you doing in there!” The comedian also opened up about how much his daughter is growing and evolving to become a young woman. He finds it quite “scary” as he can not do anything to “stop it.”

On the show, Nick Cannon also revealed Monroe’s love for makeup. He humorously said, “She [Monroe] lives at Sephora!” Cannon also shared his experience of patiently standing outside the store for more than an hour, while his daughter was shopping for beauty products. However, he mentioned that Monroe takes longer while shopping with her friends at Sephora. Nick Cannon also hilariously compared the cosmetics store to a confusing “maze” and that he doesn’t understand “how the store works at all.”
