Julie Bowen Reveals How Much Adam Sandler’s Kids Changed Him

Julie Bowen believes Adam Sandler has changed for good after becoming a girl dad to his two daughters. The actor exclusively told PEOPLE how her “Happy Gilmore” co-star’s wife and daughters have made him “better.”

Bowen, who is a “boy mom,” also discusses the magical aspect of seeing Sandler with one of his daughters. The two award-winning icons are currently filming “Happy Gilmore 2,” a sequel to their 1996 golf comedy.

Julie Bowen praises Adam Sandler’s bond with his daughters

At first, Julie Bowen describes Adam Sandler as a “gracious and lovely” individual, who “makes everybody feel like they’re welcome.” She then discusses the positive changes in Sandler as a loving husband and father. Bowen exclaims that she loves how the father-of-two has “gotten more, I don’t want to say richer because it sounds like I’m talking about money.” She further explained that the comic actor’s “depth and breadth” are now “on full display.”

Later, Julie Bowen compares Adam Sandler, his wife, Jackie, and their two daughters, Sunny and Sadie to “soup.” The actor says that Sandler, who has “always been so down to earth,” and Jackie, who “is just the most lovely person,” make an ideal couple. The duo, then combined with their daughters, are “like soup, you know when it’s better the next day?” She attests that the women in his life “made him even better,” adding that Sandler being a girl dad “warms the cockles of my heart.”

Julie Bowen, who shares a son with her ex-husband Scott Phillips, calls herself a “boy mom” contrary to Adam Sandler. She then elucidates how being a boy mom differs from being a girl dad. Bowen, referring to her sons, says, “I’ll hug them and if no one is around they’ll let me, but the rest of the time, they’re like, ‘Noooo.'” Yet, she describes it was “like magic” the moment she saw [Sandler] “sitting there with one of the girls cuddling up to him.”

Adam Sandler and Julie Bowen reunited almost 30 years after “Happy Gilmore” premiered for a sequel. “Happy Gilmore 2” is presently in production with a March 2025 release date.
