Jodie Turner-Smith has shared a piece of advice after co-parenting with her ex-husband, Joshua Jackson. After tying the knot in 2019, the British actor filed for divorce from Jackson last year. Nonetheless, the former couple has continued to co-parent their 4-year-old daughter, Juno Rose Diana. Recently, Turner-Smith attended the MTV EMAs 2024, where she opened up about her experience in a candid interview.
Jodie Turner-Smith says all a parent can do is ‘just think about your kids’
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the MTV EMAs 2024, Jodie Turner-Smith got candid about what co-parenting is like with her ex-husband, Joshua Jackson. The 38-year-old said, “You’ve got to just think about your kids.” Turner-Smith explained with parenting in the public eye, everything they do gets discussed. She noted, “Eventually, there’s a record of it.” The actor said one wouldn’t want their kids to “read anything and think anything.”
Turner-Smith further added, “Center the children and that’s all you can do.” She continued, “Nobody gets everything right, but at least when you know you’re focused on the right thing, you know you’re gonna do your best.” Previously, Turner-Smith also opened up about her co-parenting experience in an interview with GLAMOUR. She shared there’s no “manual” and added that “everyone’s trying to figure it out.”
During the Entertainment Tonight interview, Turner-Smith also spoke about motherhood being “such a beautiful and wonderful thing.” She said that with parenting, “there’s a learning process of letting go.” The actor shared that even when one is looking after their children, they are also letting their kids “go into the world and become who they are.” She noted, “They’re gonna wanna individuate and it’s like, ‘Oh my god, why aren’t you on my breast anymore.'” Turner-Smith then shared she misses it and added that her daughter also misses it. The actor said, “She talks about it. She’s like, ‘It tasted like ice cream.'”
