Ashley Lemieux, mom to a two-year-old daughter, was about to be a tad bit harsh on herself when her kid surprised her with the sweetest comments on her looks. Admiring her mother’s beauty, the toddler successfully stopped Lemieux from nearly body-shaming herself.

Ashley Lemieux, a wellness coach, shared the sweetest moment with her daughter while the duo were out shopping. In a viral video, the mother was standing in front of a mirror as she tried on a purple suit when she began to “internally criticizing my cellulite.” At that moment, her daughter entered the room to look at her mom and say, “I love it mama!”
The two-year-old proceeded to shower her mom with compliments. As Lemieux twirled around in her suit, her daughter said she looked “fancy.” This is when the mom realized, “We’re not born hating our bodies. We’re taught to.” The mental health educator went on to try out another all-white dress when the toddler adorably termed it “dressy.” Through the video, the mom-of-one stressed the importance of kids witnessing women accepting themselves for who they are.
In the caption, Ashley Lemieux revealed that she had been “intentional about staying neutral when trying on clothes” as her daughter would watch her reactions. However, the author also pointed out that sometimes negative thoughts about one’s body do start to creep in. This is where the mom revealed that her toddler’s encouraging words helped her be kinder to herself. Lemieux continued. “As I view myself through the eyes of my toddler, either an outfit fits or it doesn’t, and the story doesn’t have to be bigger than that.”
The mom-of-one also noted that once she’d tried on all the clothes, her daughter walked in front of the mirror, gave a little spin just like her mama, and paid herself a compliment. This helped Ashley Lemieux realize how important it is for kids to see adults adopt self-love and self-acceptance.
