Sometimes the only way parents can make it through the day without losing their minds is by keeping a sense of humor. And by drinking. Raising kids can be exhausting, maddening, overwhelming and spectacular. And Ryan Reynolds totally gets it.
Like the time he tweeted that “being a father is the single greatest feeling on earth” with a notable exception. Literally all of the rest of his time without kids.
Well, just in time for Father’s Day, the Deadpool star and Aviation Gin co-owner is offering dads a gift they actually want this year: a tall, strong drink. In a hilarious new bartending video, Reynolds, a father of three, shares his secret recipe for “the mother of all cocktails.” The drink is named the Vasectomy and it’s a beverage that’s “as refreshing as fatherhood.” Note the signature sarcasm Reynolds uses throughout the entire tutorial.
“First, fill a tall glass with ice, the way children fill our lives with so much joy. Next, pour one ounce of cranberry juice—sweet—just like their little smiles. Then, pour three ounces of tonic, so bubbly, just like I feel every day I wake up after a long full night’s sleep,” he quips while pouring the ingredients together.
“Add a dash of lemon juice, fresh if you have a few minutes to squeeze one or store bought if the little ones have you running around a bit today, the little scamps,” he continues. “Finally, we’re gonna add one and a half ounces of Aviation American Gin, the world’s highest-rated gin for the world’s highest-rated job. Dad.” Though, on his first pour, he goes way overboard before correcting the amount to just one-and-a-half shots.
“Now that is as refreshing as fatherhood. Well, something I call the Vasectomy for no fucking reason at all. Happy Father’s Day, everyone.”
