Materials:

  • ¼ inch x 12 inch long dowel rod
  • glitter card stock
  • stick on gems
  • curling ribbon
  • glue
  • scissors
  • printable star wand pattern
  • glitter (optional if you can’t find glitter card stock)

Directions:

Step 1: Print out the printable star wand pattern.

Step 2: Trace the star onto the back side of a piece glitter card stock two times.

Step 3: Use scissors to cut out the 2 stars.

Step 4: Glue the stars back to back, one on each side of the end of the dowel rod, so the dowel rod is sandwiched between the 2 stars. You can use craft glue, or a hot glue gun with an adult’s help.

Step 5: Once the glue has dried, cut 4 to 6 pieces of curling ribbon about 24 inches long. Twist the curling ribbon in half, so there is a loop where you folded it over.

Step 6: Wrap the loop under the dowel rod, and put the 2 ends through the loop over the top of the dowel rod and pull it tight to make a knot around the rod.

Step 7: Repeat the process with the rest of the ribbons.

Step 8: Have an adult use the straight edge of a knife, or a pair of scissors to curl the ribbon, but pulling the sharp edge of the scissors or knife along the ribbon.

Step 9: Let your little princess decorate the star wand with a couple stickers, or some glitter if you couldn’t find glitter card stock.

Step 10: Use some glitter to sprinkle magic dust on the wand.

Step 11: Finish off your princess outfit by adding a princess crown or hat and playing dress up as your favorite princess.
