Glitter and Valentines Day go hand in hand so we’ve had some fun this year with making our own throwback version of a heart banner pumped up with glitter and ribbon.
This would be a really pretty decoration in a doorway or window, or anywhere else you want to decoratelavishly for Valentines Day.
Supplies:
- Red glitter
- Spray glue
- Red foam hearts
- Red ribbon
- Newspaper or old magazine paper
Spread out your newspaper or old magazine pages on your counter and stagger the foam hearts on top. Be sure to cover the whole table with paper. The next part can get kind of messy.
Starting with a couple at a time, spray them generously with glue and immediately shake an even more generous amount of glitter on top to cover the whole heart- and then some. You can always reuse the glitter that doesn’t stick so don’t be stingy here!
Shake off the excess glitter carefully back onto the paper. Repeat with the rest of the hearts (I had 7 but only ended up needing 6). Wait an hour or so for them to fully dry.
Clean up the paper and glitter (funneling some of the excess back into the container if possible) and place the hearts, glitter side down on the counter with paper above and beneath leaving a 2 inch band for the ribbon in the middle. Spray this area generously.
Remove the paper and stick the ribbon onto the back of the hearts.
Voila! A glittery heart banner to adorn your doorway or window!
