DIY Moss Easter Basket

There’s something about moss that beckons Easter.  Maybe it’s the deep green color and representation of new life that makes we want to cover everything in moss, even baskets

These baskets are easy enough to make 3 or 4 in an hour.  Make them as a special gift for your child’s teacher or, just enjoy them as holiday decoration around the house.

MATERIALS

  • Easter basket
  • Moss carpet {source}
  • Craft spray glue
  • Glue Gun
  • Spring floral pick
  • Ribbon

INSTRUCTIONS

Measure the height of your basket (I sprayed mine white too)

Add an inch and cut out a piece of the moss.  Keep the width in small segments (maybe 5-6 inches) so the carpet is easy to manipulate around the basket.

Spray the back of the moss segment liberally with spray glue

Attach the moss to the basket, folding over the extra inch into the inside of the basket to cover a bit of the inside

Continue applying the moss until completely covered

Remove flowers from the pick and attach with hot glue at random on the basket

Or in a pattern on the basket

Tie a ribbon bow on top of the handle

Fill with your choice of decorative Easter grass and confections

Enjoy the natural look of these baskets in your home or yard!
