Mason Jar Coffee Filter Vases Craft

Materials:

  • coffee filters
  • mason jars (I use the Ball Blue Heritage collection)
  • pink food coloring
  • yellow food coloring
  • green food coloring
  • scissors
  • hot glue gun
  • hot glue sticks
  • water

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare three small bowls with water. Add 4 – 5 drops of pink food coloring to the first bowl, add 4 – 5 drops of yellow food coloring to the second bowl, and add 4 – 5 drops of green food coloring to the third bowl.

Step 2: Grab a coffee filter and use it to form a cone shape. To do this, press your index finger into the center of the filter and gather the ends down so it forms the shape of a cone.

Step 3: Dip just the end of your coffee filter in the colored water for a few seconds. The water will quickly wick up the filter. For each vase you plan to make, repeat this process with one coffee filter dipped in the pink water, one coffee filter dipped in the yellow water, and one coffee filter dipped in the green water.

Step 3:Place coffee filters on a plate or other surface to dry. Dry standing up as shown. These will need to dry overnight.

Step 4: Once your filters have dried, cut out the center of the green and yellow filters so there is a large hole in the middle of the filters.

Step 5: Cut green filter into leaf points but don’t cut all the way through to the center. It’s easiest to cut the coffee filter by folding it in half.

Step 6: Cut the yellow filter into petal shapes that will sit in the middle of the green leaves. Again, it’s easiest to cut the coffee filters by folding them in half.

Step 7: Your filters should look like this when unfolded.

Step 8: Slip your pink coffee filter onto the mason jar and place the green leaf shaped filter over the top. Use your hot glue gun to adhere the pink filter to the green one. Fold as needed to fit the shape and size of the jar.

Step 9: Add the yellow filter on top and again secure with hot glue to the green filter.

Step 10: Place flowers, candy, or whatever you like into your jars. You now have a great centerpiece for your summer table!
