DIY Gift: Feel Better in a Box

The season of glitter, warm soups, snowman making, and hot chocolate is almost upon us…which means it’s also the time of year for colds, the flu, and sick days. ‘Tis the season!

I’m a grown woman with three kids, but when I’m sick, to be honest, I still want my mom and some TLC. It’s true that sometimes sunshine is the best medicine, but when you’re too sick to go outside, there’s nothing like a little love and some vitamin C.

Thus, Feel Better in a Box was born. My feel better gift box is an easy, thoughtful way to send someone “get well wishes,” and it’s a sure way to lift his or her spirits…plus, everything is cuter in a box.

Supplies:

  • brown box
  • decorative items of your choice (to decorate box)
  • Emergen-C packets
  • tissue
  • tea packets
  • lemon
  • honey
  • throat lozenges
  • and if you have room, a movie or magazine

Instructions:

Step 1: Buy a box. We found ours at Target.

Step 2: Fill the box with sick day necessities such as the ones listed in the supplies list above.

Step 3: Decorate the box. We used our favorite new electronic cutting tool, Silhouette, to cut yellow lemons and words to create our new favorite sick phrase, “When life gives you lemons…add them to your tea.” Then, we used glue to tape them on the box.

Stay healthy this season…but if the bug makes its way to you, hopefully you’ll be the recipient of a Feel Better in a Box.
