DIY St. Patrick’s Day Pot of Gold Plant

Saint Patrick’s Day is one of those holidays where you either slather yourself with green and skip around the city, or it just slips through the cracks. To me, it’s a magical holiday. Think about: leprechauns, rainbows, and a pot of gold! It’s what dreams are made of.

This year, I thought it’d be fun to make our own pot of gold bouquet. It’s a cute centerpiece for the table or even a teacher’s gift. This pot of gold craft is so easy to make.

Supplies:

  • Black flowerpot and plant (You could also paint a terra cotta pot black. I just thought it’d be easier to skip that step completely.)
  • 12” and 6” skewers
  • Green washi tape
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Card stock
  • Plastic gold coins
  • Rickrack
  • Glitter (I used both green and white.)
  • Glue stick

Instructions:

Step 1: Cut shamrock shapes out of glitter green card stock. Cut larger shamrock shapes out of a darker green card stock. Make sure you cut out one four-leaf clover for good luck. Also, cut out a rainbow/cloud shape out of card stock as well. Cut each color individually and glue together.

Step 2: Use your glue stick to adhere green glitter to the lighter/smaller shamrocks and to your rainbow’s cloud. Let dry.

Step 3: Fold your lighter/smaller/glitter shamrock in half. Then glue it to the larger shamrock.

Step 4: Wrap washi tape around your skewers.

Step 5: Tape your shamrocks, rainbow, and gold coins to the end of your skewers.

Step 6: Wrap rickrack around your black pot and tape it together on the back of the pot.

Step 7: Arrange your shamrocks, rainbow, and gold coins in your plant.
