Beat the Winter Chill With These DIY No-Sew Hand Warmers

Who knew that something as simple as DIY hand warmers could make me so happy? My hands and toes are perpetually cold throughout the winter, and I live in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, which means I have several more weeks of cold weather ahead of me.

To prepare, I made these super easy DIY hand warmers to help me beat the chill. Now, I really don’t have the sewing skills required to sew warmers (or anything else for that matter), so I improvised and sealed the fabric with fusion tape. Brilliant, right? My hands are forever grateful for the touch of warmth, and the essentials oils inside the warmers make me feel like I’m in a relaxing spa—even if just for a moment.

Feeling chilly? Follow the steps below to make your own set of DIY hand warmers that’ll keep your fingers toasty through the rest of the winter.

Materials:

Directions:

Step 1: Cut fabric into 4-inch squares.

Step 2: Apply the fabric fuse along all four edges of one square.

Step 3: Remove the tape from three of the sides.

Step 4: Place another square of fabric on the top of the square with tape. Add rice to the pocket of fabric. Do not fill it completely because you’ll need room to close it properly. Drop essential oils in the rice. You do not need more than two drops.

Step 5: Remove the last piece of tape, and press the two pieces of fabric together.

Step 6: Cut the edges around all four sides so they are even.

Step 7: To get your hands toasty warm, just heat in the microwave for 30 seconds. To make these extra gift-able, add a ribbon along with a gift tag that says, “Stay Warm.”
