Inspirational Surfer Bethany Hamilton Is Pregnant

Hamilton’s name might not immediately ring a bell, but her story of perseverance is known by millions of people worldwide (and it inspired the 2011 movie Soul Surfer). She was just 13-years-old when her left arm was severed by a tiger shark as she surfed on the North Shore in Kauai, Hawaii. One year later, she was back on her board and competing in surfing competitions again. She turned pro in 2007.

In the couple’s YouTube video announcement, Bethany said she knows there will be big challenges taking care of a “squirmy baby and changing diapers” with just one arm, but noted that she’ll “just have to find [her] own way to take care of the baby.”

Vicki Clinebell majored in journalism at the University of Colorado and headed to an advertising agency before beginning a long career in broadcasting, spanning production and copywriting to Sales and Management for an ABC affiliate station.

Her decision to switch gears to pursue a career in writing fulfilled a lifelong ambition.
