Springtime Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay Wine

Between spring cleaning, switching around the closet wardrobes, taxes, gardening and trying to decide about summer camps for the kids, moms everywhere need a little down time.

Down time as in, sit in the sunshine and sip on wine! The Purple Wine Company has two great sippers for those spring days in the sunshine. Sitting outside in the backyard sipping on wine while the kids run around always gets me excited for the summer.

2010 Avalon California Cabernet Sauvignon

For just around $10 a bottle, Avalon Cabernet Sauvignon is a great backyard sipping wine. This wine is made from grapes from both Paso Robles and Mendocino wine growing regions. I enjoyed the blackberry, black cherry and plums notes on this wine. The French Oak barrel aging created a chocolate covered cherry note to the wine that is quite enjoyable.

Food Pairing: Good ‘ole fashioned backyard hamburger!

2010 Four Vines Naked Chardonnay

With a suggested retail price of $12, Four Vines Naked Chardonnay is a perfect sipping wine for the warmer weather. I love the apple, pear, lemon-lime and grapefruit notes of this wine. The “naked” is referring to the absence of aging in oak which gives this wine a zip with fresh fruit flavors. The wine also has nice acidity, making a super food friendly wine.

Food Pairing: Apple Walnut Salad, Bruschetta Appetizer, Sushi, Oysters on the Half Shell.

Both of these wines can be purchased at BevMo.com!
