Vegan Pizza Recipe That Is Actually Delicious

Did you love pizza once, but ever since turning vegan, you can’t get your hands on decent vegan pizza? Or is your lactose-intolerant child missing out on the joy of biting into a pizza slice? You no longer have to make do with not-to-great vegan pizza, as we have an absolutely delicious recipe.

Since this pizza comes together in no time, you can enjoy it any time of the day with the toppings of your choice. You can keep the vegan pizza dough in the freezer for 2-3 days and roll it out when needed. Made with a garlic-herb crust, sauteed veggies, simple tomato sauce, and vegan parmesan cheese, this vegan pizza will soon become your all-time favorite.

Ingredients

For vegan pizza

  • ½ of Trader Joe’s garlic-herb pizza dough
  • ½ cup red bell pepper, chopped
  • ½ cup green bell pepper, chopped
  • ½ cup orange bell pepper, chopped
  • 1⁄3 cup red onion, chopped
  • 1 cup button mushrooms, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon dried or fresh basil
  • ½ teaspoon dried or fresh oregano
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For sauce

  • 1⁄4 cup tomato sauce
  • ½ teaspoon dried or fresh basil
  • ½ teaspoon dried or fresh oregano
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon sea salt

Toppings

  • ½ cup vegan parmesan cheese
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Dried oregano

Preparation

  1. To make the vegan pizza, preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and position a rack in the middle of the oven.
  2. Put a large skillet on medium heat and add olive oil.
  3. Once the oil is hot, add onion and peppers. Season with salt and herbs and stir. Cook until soft and slightly charred (about 10-15 minutes).
  4. Add the mushrooms in the last few minutes. Set aside.
  5. Add tomato sauce to a mixing bowl, with seasonings and salt to taste. Set aside. (You can even use tomato paste instead of sauce. In that case, add water to thin the sauce or until you reach the desired consistency).
  6. Roll out the dough onto a floured surface and transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Top the dough with tomato sauce, a sprinkle of parmesan cheese, and the sautéed veggies.
  8. Gently slide the vegan pizza (along with the parchment underneath) directly onto the oven rack. The parchment will help prevent it from falling through (we have all seen the sad pictures of pizzas falling through).
  9. Bake the pizza for 17-20 minutes or until crisp and golden brown.
  10. Your delicious vegan pizza is ready to be relished. Serve with remaining parmesan cheese, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes sprinkled on top, and enjoy!

You can either get store-bought vegan parmesan or make some at home. Blitz raw cashews, sea salt, nutritional yeast, and garlic powder in a food processor until crumbly. Transfer the vegan parmesan to a jar and refrigerate to keep it fresh.
