Easy Sausage-Stuffed Mushroom Recipe for New Year’s Party

Are you looking for an appetizer that you can prepare at a party, no matter the occasion? Then, try your hands at this sausage-stuffed mushroom recipe. This recipe will be an instant hit, whether it be your birthday party or New Year’s Day gathering. The best part about it is that you don’t have to spend hours in the kitchen. With a few basic ingredients, this dish comes together in about two hours. Your kiddos can also help you with stuffing the mushroom, making it a fun parent-child activity. Just ensure they wash their hands thoroughly to avoid getting any nasties in the food.

Ingredients

  • 24 large mushrooms (or more if you have more mouths to feed), stems removed
  • 1 pound hot Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 ounces grated parmesan cheese, divided
  • ¼ cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley

Preparation

  1. To start making the sausage-stuffed mushroom recipe, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Then, take your mushrooms and hollow out each cap, reserving the scrapings. You can leave this part to your kids.
  3. Now, take a skillet and heat it over medium-high heat. Then, add sausage, onion, and reserved mushroom scrapings. Stir well.
  4. Cook the mixture until the sausage is browned and cooked through (should take about 4 to 6 minutes). Drain and discard grease. Return the sausage mixture to the skillet.
  5. Then, add 3 ounces of parmesan cheese, bread crumbs, garlic, and parsley into the sausage mixture and mix well. Cook it until heated through (should take about 3 to 5 minutes). Let it cool slightly.
  6. Now, stuff each mushroom cap with the sausage mixture and place them on a baking sheet. After doing one for demonstration purposes, you can let the kids take over the task.
  7. Once all done, bake your sausage-stuffed mushrooms in the preheated oven for about 12 minutes.
  8. Then, sprinkle the remaining parmesan cheese over the mushrooms. Put it back in the oven and bake it again until they are cooked through and the cheese has melted and is bubbling (should take about 3 minutes).

Your sausage-stuffed mushroom recipe is now ready to be served at your New Year’s Day party. You can try replacing sausage with other meat as well for your filling. Mixing in other vegetables is also a great idea to turn this recipe into a vegetarian option.
