Sweet Garlic Green Beans

Browning the green beans and garlic with a bit of butter makes these a super yummy treat.  So, truth be told, each of my boys tried one of these and that was it.  My husband and I, on the other hand, ate every last one.

Ingredients:

  • Olive oil to coat pan
  • 1 pound green beans, washed, dried, and stems trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon finely minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation:

Serves 4 to 6

Total prep and cooking time: 15 minutes

Coat a large saute pan with the olive oil and place over medium-high heat.  Add the green beans and garlic and turn the heat to high.  Stirring periodically, cook until they begin to brown, about 5 minutes.  Turn the heat to low, cover, and steam for about 3 minutes.  Remove the lid, return the heat to medium-high and deglaze the pan with about 1/4 cup of water. Use a flat edge wooden spatula to scrape any garlic bits from the bottom of the pan.  (Delicious!)

Once the water has evaporated, season generously to taste with salt and pepper.  Add the butter and swirl it around the pan to melt it.

An additional note:

It’s always a huge time saver to have a jar of mined garlic on hand!
