Homemade Hot Chocolate

I am mostly a tea drinker, but in the winter I love hot chocolate. I like to make my own hot chocolate mix and keep it in my pantry. It tastes better than the store-bought mixes and is less expensive, too.

Keep this in stock for snowy days when kids come in to warm up after an afternoon of sledding or even just a cold or rainy day, if there is no snow where you live!! You might even find yourself making a hot mug after they go to bed, too.

Ingredients:

½ cup regular cocoa (not Dutch process)

¾ cup granulated sugar

3 cups powdered milk

Preparation:

1.      Whisk all ingredients together in a bowl. Store in a cool dry place until ready to use.

2.      To make the hot chocolate, at 4 Tablespoons of mix to 8 ounces of boiling water and stir well.

3.      Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or marshmallows!
