Best Acne Fighting Products for Adults

Whether you have a face full of acne or you’re of the lucky few who get one big pimple a year, a daily facial cleansing routine is key to keeping a clean face free from clogged pores and excess oils. This past Christmas I was given the best gift I would have never bought for myself: a Clarisonic Mia Skin Cleansing System. If you don’t know what that is, check out the link. I admit they are pricey, but this machine will make your face feel restored! I mean it, ladies—brand new! I can’t get enough of it; I use it every night, and it has made my skin incredibly soft and radiant. Keep reading for the best acne fighting products for adults to use in combination with the Clarisonic Mia!

1. Clinique 3-Step Skin Care System, $44: This one is my favorite because you can purchase this as a set, and you have all you need for a full face cleaning. Plus, it is formulated mildly so you can use it daily. It comes in various numbers: 1, 2, and 3 for the three main types of skin. If you’re not sure which number you are, check out your local Clinique counter and they can help you determine which one is best suited for you. This skin care system comes with:

Step 1: Liquid Facial Soap – To clean off any dirt or makeup. Squirt a few pumps onto your Clarisonic brush and you’ll have a clean you’ve never felt before.

Step 2: Clarifying Lotion – To refine pores and remove dead skin cells from the surface. It feels so refreshing on the skin as well, but be careful not to get any in your eyes!

Step 3: Moisturizing Lotion – To lock in essential moisture and hydrate.

2. Kiehls Anti-Acne Skin Care: Unlike the Clinique set, Kielhs’ four-step system does not come in a set. Each item is sold individually and meant to be used twice a day, morning and night, for optimal results.

Step 1: Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser, $21 – With a cooling effect, this cleanser will prevent breakouts and calm aggravated skin.

Step 2: Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion, $18 – This soothing lotion is going to prepare your skin for the moisturizer and makeup. This is best used on only the oiliest part of your face, the T-zone, since it is very drying.

Step 3: Blue Herbal Moisturizer, $25 – This moisturizer is great if you’re looking for a matte finish. It will reduce the size of your pores and hydrate your skin, but will not leave your face looking shiny.

3. Mario Badescu Acne Starter Kit, $30: This four-piece kit includes everything you’ll need to obtain a perfect complexion. Each set is marked with various skin-type letters such as “O” for oily and “C” for combination, a user-friendly system that will help consumers identify many different products tailored just for their skin. I haven’t seen one bad review of these products, and you can literally see a difference overnight. This is a great regimen for people who have mild to severe acne problems.

Step 1: Acne Facial Cleanser – To exfoliate and deep cleanse. This product contains salicylic acid to fight off the acne and aloe vera and chamomile to soothe acne-inflamed skin.

Step 2: Special Cucumber Lotion – Goes on like a toner. This astringent helps dry out existing acne blemishes.

Step 3: Oil Free Moisturizer SPF 17 – Formulated specifically to protect skin from the sun and keep the scarring and discoloration down.

Step 4: Drying Mask – This is to be used only two to three times a week as it is an acne-fighting mask that helps to dry up oils and prevent more breakouts.
