3 Ingredient DIY Turmeric Face Mask For Glowing Skin

I’m going to be honest, I just hopped on the turmeric bandwagon a few weeks ago. In case you don’t know, turmeric is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It is also great for giving your skin a healthy glow. There are also so many people that rave how it has helped them with their acne.

A few weeks ago, my back went out and one of my nerves was severely inflamed. I was in extreme pain. My husband gave me a few turmeric capsules for the next few days, and soon after the nerve pain was completely gone. My husband has been using turmeric for years in his juicing. I personally didn’t love the taste so I always passed on the yellow spice.

The other day, I felt early arthritis in my thumb (Yay! Don’t you just love getting older?), so I popped a few more turmeric capsules, and voilà—within a few hours the pain was gone.

I’m a believer! This yellow stuff is amazing. So I started to find other things you can do with turmeric, and that’s when I discovered turmeric face masks. “OMG!” I thought. “I’ve got to try this.”

The one major concern I have with turmeric is that it stains. As I was researching turmeric for this post, I found that not only does it stain clothes (so wear old ones when you put on this mask), it can also stain your skin. In fact, a friend told me how she was grating turmeric root for one of her recipes and her fingertips and nails were stained yellow for a week.

I also read a few face mask recipes that said to simply mix lemon juice with turmeric. A few bloggers then said how this recipe made them look like Marge Simpson. I’ll be honest, I started to get nervous.

Don’t freak out; please keep reading. The recipe that I’m giving you and that I tried on my own face uses honey and Greek yogurt as the base. It didn’t stain my face, promise. The combination of yogurt and honey must somehow keep the turmeric from staining your skin.

Don’t believe me? Check out these before and after photos that I did when I tested the mask on the inside of my forearm, which is one of the fairest spots on my body. I left it on my skin for twenty-five minutes. As you can see, my arm is not stained at all. Now, on to the face.
