The Power Of Music: Song Journals

These excerpts are from High School student’s own song journals talking about what Music means to them.

“Music gave me my inspiration in life. Before I found music I lacked hope and ambition in anything I was involved in.”

“Music has helped me get through many experiences that without God and music I probably wouldn’t have made it through.”

“I think I can speak for many when I say music didn’t just change my life, it saved my life. This generation of kids, we need outlets and for some of us, music is our only outlet. For me, I’ve been writing all my life, it’s always been my way of escape but sometimes, not even my pen and journal can do it for me, sometimes I just want to drift off into a completely different world, a realm that’s safe and just way better than the world we live in today. Music offers so much. Music speaks when I can’t, music cries when I don’t have anymore tears to and music fills me up with joy, encouragement and happiness.”

“Music changed my life big time, it made me the person I am today, which is always positive, and without music I wouldn’t know how to really express myself.”

“Music offers me an escape as well as a goal. It gives me something to work towards and keeps me occupied with a positive activity. Sometimes, left to my own, I might not always find the most positive activities but music keeps me focused.”

“I know that music was supposed to be in my life from the start because once I started singing on a serious mind set I knew that that’s what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.”
